NBN Co and the NSW State Government are yet to resolve issues associated with the rollout of overhead cabling for the high speed network.
According to an NBN Co spokesperson, the organisation remains in negotiations with Ausgrid regarding access to power poles.
The issue came to a head last month, when the NSW Government accused NBN Co of potentially driving up the cost of electricity for NSW consumers because it refused to pay an estimated $130 per pole for cabling rights.
The NBN Co shot back, with its chief executive, Mike Quigley, stating the carrier had reached agreements with other states which would see it pay between $30 and $40 per pole for access rights.
A NSW Government representative told iTnews the NBN Co had reached preliminary agreements with Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy for initial roll-outs in areas including Armidale, Coffs Harbour, Kiama and Riverstone. Those agreements are set to expire in February 2013.
The NSW Government also said negotiations between Ausgrid and NBN Co are ongoing, as per processes set out in the Commonwealth Telecommunications Act.
Despite the threat of the issue going to the Federal Court, legal action between the two entities is, at present, off the table.
