Oil giant Shell has awarded a contract worth up to US$400 million (A$380 million) to services firm Aker Solutions for the supply of subsea "umbilicals and cables" used to control systems, among other things.
The five-year enterprise framework agreement has an optional five-year extension and "could generate revenues between US$200 million and US$400 million", Aker noted in a statement.
The agreement is global in scope and covers "dynamic and static steel tube umbilicals for both shallow and deepwater applications".
"Subsea umbilicals are deployed on the seabed to supply necessary control and chemicals to subsea oil and gas wells, subsea manifolds and any subsea system requiring a remote control," the firm noted.
