Western Australia’s health department has renewed a cloud and infrastructure services deal with Atos for a further five years, at a cost of $242 million.
The department signed Atos in 2019 for managed hybrid cloud services, replacing a previous centralised computing contract held by Fujitsu.
CIO for the department’s Health Support Services unit, Jonathan Smith, noted the renewal in a brief statement.
“Together [with Atos], we have already successfully delivered the largest application re-platforming program undertaken by WA Health, which was completed on time and met our requirements in terms of security and compliance,” he said.
“We are looking forward to continuing our work with Atos to help implement our WA Health digital strategy.”
Over the past five years, WA Health and Atos worked to transition systems off Fujitsu infrastructure and rehost them.
“The initial agreement included private cloud, managed public cloud, hybrid cloud orchestration, co-location and managed services for 2000-plus servers, hosting over 1000 applications, and a fully managed public cloud services utilising three hyperscalers,” Atos said.
